What is Catapres?

Catapres lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. This allows your blood vessels to relax and your heart to beat more slowly and easily.

Catapres is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is sometimes used together with other blood pressure medications.

Although not approved by the FDA for these purposes, Catapres has also been used to relieve alcohol withdrawal, as an aid in methadone and opiate detoxification, as an aid in quitting smoking, to treat diabetic diarrhea, to treat Tourette's Syndrome. Catapres has also been used to reduce menopausal flushing, to treat postherpetic neuralgia, to treat ulcerative colitis, and to diagnose pheochromocytoma.

カタプレス（Catapres）とは？

カタプレスは、ある体内物質のレベルを抑制することで、血圧を下げる働きがあります。血管の収縮を抑えリラックスさせ、心拍を低下させる作用があります。

カタプレスは、高血圧（高血圧症）の治療に使われます。その他の降圧薬と一緒に使われることもあります。

次の使用目的で食品医薬品局の承認は得ていませんが、カタプレスは、アルコール依存症からの離脱、メタドンおよびアヘン製剤の解毒、禁煙の目的で用いられることもあり、糖尿病性下痢やトゥレット・シンドロームの治療に利用される場合もあります。また、更年期の顔のほてり、帯状疱疹後神経痛、潰瘍性大腸炎の治療、褐色細胞腫の診断に用いられることもあります。
